Sidewalks need to go from the Linder roundabout all the way to Albertsons
If Kuna is going to expand as quickly as you think it is, please bring in what's needed to A) keep the business that they'll bring here in Kuna, B) bring in shopping without compromising the small town feel of the downtown as well as bring in local stores, and C) be aware that if you build too much toon (In the way of housing) there could be serious consequences in the long run. To bring in one, you have to have the other, let's not overthrow the balance before we've too far gone.
Overpass please. This would help keep the small town feel of the downtown and help those that live south of here get to and from work without putting too much traffic in the heart of Kuna
My Husband and I are moving into a Kuna within the next few months as our house is being built. The reason why we chose Kuna was for the small town feel, and that there is a lot of land and open space around. Where yes, new business will bring in revenue, but limit how far south it goes. Stop the housing, anything at king road. I also agree with those that are asking for a rec/ pool center, alternative sports complexes (dirt biking), and build a dog park. but PLEASE keep the small town feel: which means limiting the housing boom until other things have come to pass.
We share the new I84 interchange @ Tenmile with Meridian and to some extent Nampa. Let us look far ahead and have ACHD do 5 lanes on it, as much of Meridian has; while land is still cheaper. Also, let us work for that much needed RR Overpass to be on Tenmile Rd. ACHD and IDOT just might go for it! Tenmile will see much new growth no matter what happens. Let's plan ahead people.
We need to complete curbs, gutters and sidewalks on both sides of 4th Street and on the side streets coming of Main Street.
This intersection is very dangerous for westbound Hubbard traffic trying to turn South onto Ten Mile.
An overpass for the tracks and Indian Creek is desperately needed. Maybe the city needs someone to find and apply for grants instead of an Economic Development Coordinator.
I agree, the fences smell horrible over here! Maybe vinyl fences will smell better. Run the dairy, that has been here much longer than my 18 years in Kuna, out of town!
Need to allow for more controlled growth as the infrastructure solidifies. Schools and traffic are the biggest concerns.
Concerned the growth in this area will not be controlled.
It would be nice to spend money on our school system before putting in parks. For a community with such a robust tax base, our school system is horribly underfunded. There should not be combined kindergarten/first grade classes.
I agree with two previous commenters. A float takeout would make floating the creek much more enjoyable and keep people from trespassing on private property. New business development is another benefit as more tourists would be attracted.
I am concerned that Kuna’s growth model is overwhelmingly based upon the rapid addition of mass-produced subdivisions. We chose Kuna for the appeal of a smaller town which borders wide open spaces yet has great access to jobs and amenities throughout the Treasure Valley. However, the reckless expansion of entry-level housing without a compliment of businesses, destination neighborhoods, or sufficient tax base has me questioning whether we will remain. The attraction of Kuna’s cheaper housing is an advantage to its citizens, but it must be complimented by more diverse housing and local business. If families would like to shop and spend their money locally, their options are limited. When a family wants to expand or plant roots in an upper-scale neighborhood, again, they are effectively told to do it elsewhere. Local professionals and businesses say goodbye to reliable customers as their families relocate. We have not, or have refused to, establish a well-rounded model that can keep up with our growth. Yet the same mass-produced subdivisions continue to pop up at break-neck speed. Such an approach squanders the natural appeal Kuna enjoys. The area north of the interstate is largely developed, crowded, and more expensive. To the south, there is space. With the 3 largest cities in Idaho as our neighbors, families will continue to seek out Kuna. Whether we continue to be complicit to large home-building corporations’ scorched-earth ambitions or develop a diverse, sustainable community that benefits its members over the short and long haul is up to us. Why settle for being a bedroom community of high-density housing that feeds our larger neighbors?
Organize some volleyball at the sand court, summer league?
Trim trees to allow better view of southbound traffic on N Kay from Limestone.
Would still like to see a theater and more dining options. (Goodwood? Texas Roadhouse?)
Need a stoplight here
Need a dedicated right turn lane from southbound Meridian road to westbound Deer Flat. Cars drive down the shoulder all the time to turn, dedicated lane would improve safety.
Roundabout works really well, would like to see these in other places with similar traffic flow needs.
Improve road so speed limit can be raised to 60+ or patrol more, especially during commute times.
Extension of Kuna Road to Pleasant Valley would provide a great alternate route for commuters to south/east Boise (Micron, etc.)
Connect Ten Mile and put an overpass over the tracks and creek.
Storm drain doesn't drain
Add a stop sign to improve traffic flow for people turning off of Shortline on to Swan Falls.
Needs an overpass to avoid backups from trains.
This dairy should be an example of how city planning failed. This dairy was here first, but now is being pushed out because of development. There are 5 other dairies in the designated "Area of impact" and on the map on KunaMelbaNews, some aren't even designated as an "Agriculture" area. Additionally, there are several areas that are currently agricultural that are not marked accordingly on that same map. It would be prudent for Kuna to pay some attention to where the farms are, where the daires are, and to plan accordingly.
This corner can be difficult to deal with when traffic is heavy. Needs some improvement for cars coming off of Kuna road from the east.
This is a frustrating intersection. Needs some flow control to allow left turns when traffic is heavy.
Need a light or flashing warning or something. I've seen near misses of cars going too fast while kids are trying to cross the street for school.
Responsible growth is what we need. Can our schools, roads, trash, water etc. Keep up with this irresponsible growth?
STOP approving developments when you have unanswered questions about what is being proposed.
An overpass would greatly increase the quality of life for the community, especially for those of us who live close to this area (Swan Falls and Shortline, and Shortline and Bridge Avenue) and the acoustic pollution we have to experience because of the trains.
We need more trees and lighting in our city, especially around the area of downtown, between Linder and N. Avenue E; and 4th and 2nd Street.
Please make sure that development favors small, local businesses to keep the small town feeling intact. We love progress, but we wouldn't want to see big corporations change what makes Kuna special.
It would be nice to have a city bus service to Kuna.
This is perhaps a comment for Kuna High School, but please do not allow cars to be parked along Kay Street for school event. It leaves very little space for this two lane street, narrowing it down to just one, making it dangerous for upcoming traffic.
We need better lighting for this spot, especially in winter when children are walking, crossing, and waiting for school buses. It's too dark.
Please put a right turn lane in when going south on Meridian road to turn onto Deer Flat. There is a lot more traffic there now that the Ridley's and soon Bi-Mart are there and a right turn lane would improve traffic flow.
I feel like we need to have more restaurant options in Kuna. If we are encouraging growth by putting in sub-divisions we need to support the amount of people that are moving to our community.
In the summer, please time the Greenbelt sprinkler system to hours before 6:00 AM. It is an inconvenience to have to stop to avoid them to not get wet during exercise. Thank you.
We need a pedestrian crossing light to safely walk to the other side of the Greenbelt, just like the one on the other side by Pizza Hut.
We need to improve our "Gateway to the National Birds of Prey Conservation Area" visitor information.
We desperately need a traffic light in this intersection
We need to beautify our downtown keeping its historical heritage. Bring locally owned businesses, little coffee shoppes and restaurants with outdoor sitting, increase street lighting, and add trees and plants to make it more appealing. This will bring more business and add charm to our city.
We need more street lighting at this subdivision. It's too dark at night.
We need side walks to connect the High School to the new businesses that are being built.
Oh...the smell of Kuna. There is something that needs to be done about this dairy farm across Kuna High School, and now next to brand new businesses. Our city is changing and this operation doesn't belong in the heart of our town anymore. If anything, please improve it, clean it, and make it "humane" for those poor animals.
We need a side walk to connect this section of Orchard with the entrance to the Greenbelt.
