What's the likelihood of adding a horse path next to the bike path? Many people in the area have horses and are looking for places to ride them. BTW – I love the idea and fully support it!!!

There needs to be pavement on the shoulder portion of the road where the dam is right now. There is a shoulder right now but it is not paved and not very safe. If there was a marked path for bicycles, motorists might be more kind when passing.

6 - September 25, 2016 @ 10:20 AM

I'm not sure of the rules and usage around canals, but I'm struck by the miles and miles of paths that currently exist alongside canals. It would be epic to have a certified bike path along one or two of these canals that might lead towards or into the lake. Canals already connect to the lake, so making the roads on them into bike or walking paths seems like a natural fit that could add miles of pathways.

7 - September 25, 2016 @ 9:59 AM

Bike paths from Caldwell would be helpful. Montana was torn up and repaved last year, but no bike path was put in. Either a bike path on Montana or 10th would be very helpful. 10th might make more sense, since it has a stop light on Karcher, and 10th is a little more dangerous to ride on currently.

8 - September 22, 2016 @ 1:32 PM

Why not send out the cops to ticket every cycling group that does not follow the "keep to the right and single file laws?" They tend to clog the road.

9 - September 22, 2016 @ 1:30 PM

I live on Lake Shore. If you even think about touching my property lines, all legal hell will break loose on you.

10 - September 20, 2016 @ 10:45 PM

The road over the dam is very scary. It needs some shoulder on both sides.

11 - September 20, 2016 @ 6:52 PM

A pedestrian path from the existing sidewalk along RedHawk Golf Course to the upper dam is really needed. It would serve to connect the lake area with the Nampa pathways.

12 - September 13, 2016 @ 8:52 AM

Please leave Kingfisher path gravel. That path is used by many horseman and we need at least one place that is safe for us to ride.

13 - October 19, 2015 @ 8:15 AM

Please Keep King Fischer trail gravel! Thank you!

14 - September 16, 2015 @ 10:29 PM

I hear in one meeting that if there were a path completely around the lake there would be sections always underwater. If that is the case, why not put in shorter pathway sections where that would not be an issue and which are adjacent to residential areas? Perhaps eventually they would connect, but in the mean time, there would be shorter (5 miles or less) trails that would give people at least 30 minute to 1 hour opportunity to experience the wildlife of the refuge.

15 - September 16, 2015 @ 10:25 PM

Signage for Kingfisher trail should go here.

16 - September 16, 2015 @ 10:22 PM

Is there signage here off of Greenhurst that alerts the community to the existence of the Kingfisher trail? If not, there should be.

17 - September 16, 2015 @ 10:20 PM

Signage is a higher priority than wether it's paved or kept gravel. This is a wonderful trail either way - but few people know it's there. Signage on Greenhurst, at head of trail and various spots along the way would be a great addition. Signage is low-hanging fruit - show people what's already there!

18 - September 16, 2015 @ 10:14 PM

Since this is an ACCESS plan it should specify that bike lanes should be applied to Iowa, Lake Lowell, and Roosevelt. These are already specified in the Nampa Bike/Ped Plan, but to have it here as well would give additional justification. These are popular routes for persons from Nampa going TO the lake and back or just out to the refuge to spend some time.

19 - September 16, 2015 @ 10:11 PM

Somewhere in this area it would be good to have at least a porta potti or rest/water area for those making their way around the lake. Perhaps in one of the existing boat parking areas?

20 - September 15, 2015 @ 10:19 PM

A path or bike lane around the lake would be a massive draw for pedestrians, cyclists and other forms of recreation, just look how popular Boise's Greenbelt is.

21 - September 15, 2015 @ 4:29 PM

A path all the way around the lake would be an amazing addition and I would definitely use it. In fact it would probably increase my use of the area (which is currently a few times a month). This section of the road is very narrow and running or biking here feels dangerous especially with the blind curves in the road. A path here would be extremely helpful.

22 - September 13, 2015 @ 8:39 PM

All around the lake are county roads and not made or safe for ped. or bikes. As a driver on these roads all the time there is absolutely no place for the driver or the bicyclist to go. There is a lot of traffic (which has increased significantly the last few years) and it is just about impossible to walk.

23 - September 9, 2015 @ 2:51 PM

I understand that a bking/walking path is/was planned along this canal, but but have yet to see any efforts to begin this work. This would be an ideal place to put such a path, and I would encourage the further pursuit of developing a path as part of this planning effort.

Thank you for seeking public input for this possible project. I use this recreation area year round for both cycling, running and hunting. The area along hwy 45 from locust to lakeshore is not as safe as it could be with a dedicated bike lane which it appears there is room for. On the south side of the lake the shoulder is very narrow making it difficult when there is increased traffic during peak times of the day. The entire Caldwell dam needs to be paved to allow all users access without safety concerns. The north side or orchard ave. portion needs a bike lane as well. If speed limits were decreased and enforced it would help, as well as generate revenue for the county. Overall, I feel that all interest should be taken into account and that this could be a very valuable asset to the western side of the valley.

A bike/walking path all the way around Lake Lowell would be wonderful! Living anywhere nearby, one can only walk or bike along the county roads which is dangerous, to say the least. This would be an incredible 'amenity' for the Canyon County community!

27 - September 8, 2015 @ 8:36 AM

All of the roads leading to upper dam, lower dam, visitor center, or a loop around the lake do not have a shoulder, much less a bike path. Ideally there would be a segregated path, not just a shoulder, divided into a pedestrian and bicycle lanes.

28 - September 7, 2015 @ 3:36 PM

I understand that there is some ongoing pavement improvement in the area, which will greatly improve a cyclists ability to navigate the roads around the lake, however as Nampa grows so will the expectations of citizens to have safe access to the lake for both pedestrians and cyclists alike. From my limited survey of the area, it would appear that there is more than enough room to put in cycle lanes on both sides of the road that lies closest to the lake. Understanding that a project such as that would require a significant amount of funding, I do not think that it is impossible. Grants, cycle events, Fund My Cause, grass root movements and donations are an excellent source of funding that would not require taxation. There are several areas at Lake Lowell that are excellent for Pedestrian access and I understand the delicate balance that is required between access/environment, and I think those are best addressed with education on that balance. I believe there is already educational opportunities in place, and I commend Lake Lowell stewards in there ongoing efforts to help people to understand the value of such a beautiful nature resource. In addition to the above, I would like to address the opportunity for our farm/stock community to have equal use of the lake for horse riding. It is a beautiful area and I could see the lure of taking a leisurely ride at designated areas of the lake, with that said, I think it would be a great idea to involve the 4H club, to gauge if there is any other interest. Should there be, I believe that horse trails should be designated and pedestrian traffic strictly discouraged. Thank you for the opportunity to give input in making our lake a wonderful asset for our families to enjoy.

29 - September 6, 2015 @ 8:04 PM

Biking anywhere in Nampa is like taking your life in your hands. In most areas out here the white line is at the very edge of the road. So while that greenbelt looks like a good idea, it still only encompasses that area and the rest of Nampa is terrible.

30 - September 5, 2015 @ 9:53 AM

It would be nice if ALL greenbelts would meet up and eventually meet up at the lake. It is dangerous to ride in Nampa because the cars don't pay attention and don't like to share the roads.

31 - September 5, 2015 @ 6:23 AM

A biking/walking path would be a huge addition to the area.

32 - September 4, 2015 @ 6:27 PM

I currently don't utilize the lake but would love to bike and walk around it. would love a path all the way around for bikes and ped... wildlife is pretty adapted to people and I don't think additions will be sacrificing their habitat lifestyle.

33 - September 4, 2015 @ 11:29 AM

This path comes through my property which is enclosed with an electric fence. Please clarify, unless you purchase my entire property, it cannot come this route. Please reply and thanks for the opportunity to comment. Very proactive. Not against the project, but just concerned where it is located.

34 - September 4, 2015 @ 10:13 AM

My family and I would really enjoy being able to bike up Lake Lowell to the Lake area, if it weren't for the goatheads we seem to pick up along the way. We've ended up having to walk a long ways because of flat tires due to the goatheads.

35 - September 4, 2015 @ 9:03 AM

Thank you for considering public comment. I agreed with a paved path for pedestrians, biking and boarding. It would create a safe family-friendly recreation environment, a fire break and minimize maintenance with weeds, goat-heads and heavy rain. There's a similar path around Lake Pahoja, Iowa. They had garbage cans, benches and gazebos along the path. It didn't affect the wildlife at all, in fact they took advantage of the warm pavement. They charged a minimal park fee for maintenance, but it was well worth it.

36 - September 4, 2015 @ 7:15 AM

I would NOT like to see Kingfisher Trail paved. Keep it as natural as possible for birds and mammals. After all, it is a refuge not a public park.

37 - September 4, 2015 @ 7:10 AM

As a birder who often scopes the lake area from the dam, access to view the lake from here needs to be continued. We have often viewed uncommon and rare species of birds from this terrific vantage point. Walking accress would be OK but being able to drive, stop, scope has been very convenient and nice.

38 - September 3, 2015 @ 10:58 PM

Unfortunstely all of this area is off limits. I would like to see access from Greenhurst though to Iowa. The "restricted" area doesn't allow you to connect to the two roads which is also some of the nicest area on the trail. I was told this was due to Fish and Wildlife equipment being stored in the area of the trail. I have also been told that it is becasue they house some of the fish and game personnel in the cabins there. I think this is a terrible reason, considering there are other areas around the lake that they store/ could store their equipoment that wouldn't affect the lake view trail.

39 - September 3, 2015 @ 9:27 PM

A pathway around the lake would be amazing. We often ride the old dirt road off of tio lane but would love a pathway that goes all the way around the lake that is not on the road. A dirt path would be great.

40 - September 3, 2015 @ 4:07 PM

There should be a link along Orchard all the way in to the boulevard, and another out to Rte. 55/Sunnyslope.

41 - September 2, 2015 @ 8:13 AM

Some of the parking lots along here come up without warning or adequate signage. Lots of slamming on of brakes going in and low visability of oncoming traffic going out.

42 - September 2, 2015 @ 8:01 AM

I agree with the previous comments especially about this area which due to the narrow winding road is perhaps the most dangerous. Also a very sharp tun into the boat park area.

43 - September 2, 2015 @ 7:59 AM

I am a resident of this area and we are impacted by every bike ride and marathon in this area. We should not have to stop and wait 30 min for these events that are blocking off our roads. I agree that an off the road bike/ped. lanes would be safer for everyone. ** I also appreciate the previous comment about not allowing parking on the dam at the lake.

44 - September 1, 2015 @ 5:50 PM

Widening the road on Iowa would only serve to increase traffic which, regrettably, has increased significantly since 2008. Gone are the days when we could walk safely on Iowa. Widening the road and increasing traffic will do away with the pastoral setting so many residents love.

45 - August 31, 2015 @ 11:03 AM

Lake Lowell park to Iowa Avenue is a scary section to ride. No shoulder at all, and vehicles pulling boats with blind corners. This needs to be addressed. I took my kids on this route one time - scary.

46 - August 31, 2015 @ 10:49 AM

Can the County please control the Puncturevine along the roads they maintain. The shoulder of the road can be a mine field with goatheads.

47 - August 31, 2015 @ 10:45 AM

This is by far the worst portion of a bike ride around Lake Lowell. Widening the shoulder would make a huge difference.

48 - August 30, 2015 @ 4:06 PM

The most logical path around the lake would be to provide a designated paved biking lane adjacent to existing roads. Even on the lower dam there is room for a paved bike lane adjacent to the concrete parapet. Existing access points into the refuge should also be maintained, but not necessarily increased in respect for conserving wildlife buffers and habitat.

49 - August 29, 2015 @ 7:39 AM

I've noticed the refuge maintains a strip, plowed, inside the perimeter fences, along roadsides...I believe as a barrier to prevent fires from encroaching. If that strip were paved, it too would protect from fires AND would serve as a car free pathway for bikers and others.

50 - August 29, 2015 @ 5:23 AM

coming south on Indiana to the lake, nice.
